Cohen makes withdrawal from lt. gov's race official

February 12, 2010 (CHICAGO)

A spokesperson says Cohen signed and notarized the withdrawal papers, and submitted them to the state Democratic Party. They will be formally filed on Tuesday.

State offices are closed on Monday for President's Day.

Cohen decided to withdraw because of embarrassing revelations about his personal life, including alleged domestic violence and steroid use.

The party is looking for a replacement to be Governor Pat Quinn's running mate.
