Officials have asked residents for any information that might help in the investigation. The body was found early Monday morning in an alley near 173rd and Roy.
"This is crazy," said Chante Haulden, neighbor.
"It's a pretty quiet neighborhood. I came by here around 7:30 and saw all the police cars," said Andrew Hudak, neighbor.
Neighbors say Lansing police are going door-to-door asking if they saw or heard anything Sunday night -- but aren't saying much about the investigation.
"He came over and asked 'Do you live he?' I said, 'Yes' and told him I didn't hear (any)thing. He asked me if I knew a white kid with red hair and I said that doesn't ring a bell," said Pam Mosele, neighbor.
Although the victim has not been officially identified, some neighbors said they believe they know him.
"I've been knowing him since he was 15 years old. He's a good kid. Nothing negative. Its hard to believe something like this would happen so close," said Rich Shata.
