April 16, 2010 (CHICAGO) --Some Chicago students saw a special piece of U.S. history Friday. One of 26 remaining original copies of the Declaration of Independence was at Curie Metro High School.
Two hundred copies were printed when the country was born July 4, 1776.
Philanthropist and producer Norman Lear bought the one at Curie High for $1.81 million. It's the only touring copy because Lear wants people to see it.On Saturday, April 17 it will be at Chicago's North Grand High School.
