The driver and his passenger were only 12 years old.
Authorities had tried to pull over a suspicious vehicle early Monday, but a chase began.
Speeds reached as high as 90 miles per hour before the young driver gave up.
His passenger said the driver was trying to run away from home.
The driver has since been taken to a juvenile detention center.
