Donald Johnson, 32, of Merrillville, Indiana, faces a number of charges including aggravated battery to a police officer.
Police say it began Thursday night when Johnson resisted arrest in a supermarket parking lot in Elmhurst. Johnson sped from the scene, dragging an officer with him.
Police followed Johnson down the Eisenhower and onto the Dan Ryan.
Johnson ended up crashing into another car at 51st and Wells.
Two people in that vehicle were seriously hurt.
The injured police officer was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
