Evanston police investigate shooting

Evanston police are asking for help as they investigate a shooting in which two juveniles were wounded.

It took place on August 7 near the intersection of Davis and Benson Avenue in downtown Evanston.

One of the victims, a 17-year-old male, was released from Evanston North Shore Hospital Monday after being treated for a gunshot wound to his stomach, police said. The second victim, a 16-year-old, is recovering from his injuries at North Shore Hospital and remains in serious condition, according to a police statement.

Evanston police said detectives have surveillance video of the area that captures a male subject taking photos before the shooting took place. Several other residents are seen in the video. The police are asking anyone who was in the area of the shooting and may have witnessed it to contact the police at 847-866-5040.
