A man arrested in a brutal attack on two mentally challenged women was a beneficiary of the early prisoner release program.

The Department of Corrections confirms 26-year-old Bryan Broger was released on parole in July after serving time on a 2009 burglary conviction.

Broger was arrested Thursday and put back in jail for allegedly forcing his way into a home in Elgin Wednesday morning and attacking two residents.

Police reveal Broger has an extensive criminal history and has been arrested at least 16 times for crimes ranging from assault to burglary.
