An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Rose www.tarynrose.com changed the footwear industry in 1998 by creating a line of luxury shoes that are as fashionable as they are functional. In her orthopedic practice, Dr. Rose saw patients with many serious foot problems that were caused by high heels and pointed toes. Being a lover of beautiful footwear, her own feet ached after 14-hour days in shoes with three-inch heels. So she decided set out to prove that stylish shoes do not have to ruin women's feet. Taryn Rose International started in a garage and grew to a multi-million dollar business with boutiques all over the country. She sold the business two years ago.
Now designing shoes again, Dr. Rose is introducing two new lines: Haute Footure, available exclusively at Neiman-Marcus stores, and High Heel Power which she created for the Home Shopping Network www.hsn.com. She launched High Heel Power on HSN in May and sold out. The second collection is due out in this month. High Heel Power features footwear, handbag and leg wear with cushioned soles and non-slip treads.
For the first time, Dr. Rose has created line of skincare products for feet under the High Heal Power label. The "sole saver" products include Platform Pump moisturizer; Rocket Leg after-shave cream; Sandal Savior daily foot scrub, and Stiletto Stick Foot Numbing Spray. These products are priced from $19.99-$39.99.

Haute Footure debuted in July at Neiman stores across the country. Dr. Rose calls it "a footwear collection for women who love fashion and worship their feet." All styles feature a new gel insole that mimics the padding of woman's foot to provide extra cushioning and includes ballerinas, mid heels, platforms, booties and boots. Haute Footure shoes feature a signature flirty lip design stitched onto the arch and a pink outer sole. "I developed a feminine, fashion-forward, sophisticated collection that will appeal to women who wield power and sensuality with equal success," the shoe designer says.
Dr. Rose will introduce the new line to Chicago women on Friday night, when Neiman's on Michigan Avenue hosts "Fashion's Night Out" from 6 to 8 pm. Michelle Alegria from ABC 7's 190 North will host a fashion show at the event, which also features makeovers from Estee Lauder. Dr. Taryn Rose created one of today's most successful brands, Taryn Rose footwear. An orthopedic surgeon turned shoe designer, Dr. Rose married fashion and function in 1999 and changed the footwear industry forever. New York Moves magazine recognized her as one of the most powerful women in New York City (2005); she was highlighted as a distinguished role model and entrepreneur in the city of Los Angeles during Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (2003); recognized by the Women's Venture Fund as an outstanding entrepreneur during the Highest Leaf Awards in New York (2003), and by the Small Business Administration as one of four outstanding women entrepreneurs honored during the 50th Anniversary of the SBA in Washington DC (2003).
