October 29, 2010 (CHICAGO) --Applications will be accepted starting Friday for a Chicago program that helps low-income residents heat their homes. The Emergency Housing Assistance Program is starting early this year. It gives grants to repair or replace a homeowner's furnace.
Because of this summer's heavy rains and basement flooding, it's anticipated that many furnaces in the city may have been damaged.
Two hundred fifty-eight homes received assistance last year.
