Barrington school employee charged with theft

A school district employee in the northwest suburbs was arrested on a felony theft charge.

Fifty-three-year old William Schwartz is a night maintenance foreman for Barrington Community Unit School District 220. He is accused of falsely billing the school district for maintenance repair parts through two fictitious vendors. The amount is between $100,000 and $500,000.

Schwartz has been employed with the school district since 1987.
