Hot flashes may be sign of good health

A new study finds the risk for breast cancer in these women may be reduced by as much as 50 percent.

Menopausal symptoms occur primarily from changes in hormones.

The study confirms the suspicion that high levels of estrogen increase the risk of breast cancer, but scientists did not have proof that if women have less estrogen they have less breast cancer.

It appears in the online edition of Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention.
