Suburbs get help to clean up after snow

February 4, 2011 (CHICAGO)

In north suburban Skokie, public works crews have been targeting all streets along with the alleys. The village has also hired outside contractors that have equipment to help clear the snow.

In west suburban Wheaton, local officials hired contractors to collect the snow and help get rid of it. Crews have been plowing the streets. Contractors are taking that snow and dumping it at the DuPage County fairgrounds.

In west suburban Naperville, the weight of the snow caused a portion of the roof of a K-Mart to cave in.

No one was injured, but the damage is estimated at more than $200,000.
