February 13, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Kyjuanzi Harris is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and a misdemeanor for drug possession.

In May 2009, a man and woman were in a vehicle in the 3000-block of west Van Buren when they were shot. The victims were identified as Bernadette Turner, 19, and 27-year-old Derrick Armstrong, authorities said.

Turner, of 4737 W. Ohio St., died at Mount Sinai Hospital and Armstrong, of 1933 S. Christiana Ave., died at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Autopsies determined both died of multiple gunshot wounds and both deaths were ruled homicides.

Harrison Area detectives gathered leads and determined Harris was involved in the shooting, according to a news release. The Harrison Area Gang Investigations Section located him Friday in the 2900-block of West Polk Street and arrested him after a brief foot pursuit.
