April 11, 2011 (CHICAGO)

She recently penned her first cookbook entitled "Eva's Kitchen" and talked with ABC7 about the love for cooking she's had for years.

(NEWS RELEASE)

Actress and philanthropist Eva Longoria reveals her passion for cooking in her first cookbook ''Eva's Kitchen: Cooking with love for family and friends,'' a flavor-packed cookbook of over 100 recipes and full color photographs.

Eva may be most recognized for her role as the saucy Gabrielle Solis on "Desperate Housewives," but on her own time, there are few places she'd rather be than in her kitchen, cooking for family and friends, or collaborating with her executive chefs on their new restaurants, Beso, in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

"Eva's Kitchen" captures Eva's love of food and her fascinating life story, from her Texan roots and Mexican heritage to her incredibly successful career.

Including a broad range of tantalizing international influences as well as personal stories and gorgeous photography, "Eva's Kitchen" offers home cooks a chance to cook with Eva, a true home cook herself. Growing up on a ranch outside Corpus Christi, Texas, Eva's family always cooked together with farm fresh ingredients.

Drawing from her childhood experiences in the kitchen, Eva's recipes in this book focus on easy-to-find, fresh, quality foods and include:
  • Grilled Shrimp on Arugula
  • Asparagus with Grey Moss Inn White French Dressing
  • Enchilada Rojas
  • Flank Steak with Lime Marinade
  • Chunky Guacamole with Serrano Peppers
  • Aunt Elsa's Devil's Food Cake
  • Mint Lemoneade

Eva Longoria shared some of these recipes with ABC7, including how to make Mint Lemondae, Chunky Guacamole with Serrano Peppers and Aunt Elsa's Devil's Food Cake.
