Apple a day might help keep heart disease away

Another reason to eat an apple day: not only can it keep the doctor away, but maybe even heart disease.

A new study finds that women who ate dried apples every day for a year lowered their total cholesterol by 14 percent and their levels of bad cholesterol by 23 percent.

Researchers theorize that the nutrients in apples may reduce inflammation in the body.

Nutritionists say eating fresh apples over dried is even better because some nutrients are probably lost in the drying process.
