HP slashes prices on TouchPad tablets

August 11, 2011

HP slashed the cost of its TouchPad tablets by 20 percent as a back to school offer, and the TouchPad will continue to sell at the lower prices.

The 16-gigabyte version now costs $400. The 32-gigabyte model sells for $500.

That's $100 less than when the TouchPads hit the market less than two months ago.

HP hopes the move will help it better compete with Apple's iPad.
