Store owner critically injured in South Side shooting

October 6, 2011 (CHICAGO)

Chicago police say someone entered the 71st Street Meat Market, demanded cash, then shot the victim in the face and stomach.

An employee who was in the store at the time of the shooting described the victim to ABC7's Evelyn Holmes.

"He's a nice guy. He helps people in this community. He's one of the reasons I still work here 'cause he's just a good guy. You know, he helps a lot of people. With food, hungry people, everything," he said.

Friends say the man was known around the neighborhood as 'Chris.' Police haven't made any arrests.
