The Sun-Times says Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Secretary of State Jesse White now back the measure. They did not support it initially.
Under the current law, drivers who have disabled-parking placards and license plates do not have to feed parking meters. The proposal would limit that to wheelchair-bound people and others whose disabilities prevent them from feeding the meters.
