PI: Police had 'tunnel vision' in 2007 Vaughn slayings

March 23, 2012 (CHICAGO)

Kimberly Vaughn and her three children were found shot to death in an SUV near Interstate 55 outside of Channahon in June 2007. Her husband, Christopher Vaughn, was shot once. He is charged with killing Kimberly and their children.

Bill Clutter, who worked as Vaughn's private investigator, said police had "tunnel vision" and ignored concerns from one of their own former investigators. That former investigator, Sgt. Robert Deel, testified that Vaughn may not be responsible for his family's death and that the evidence convinced him that Kimberly may have been the gunman.
