July 2, 2012 (CHICAGO)

ABC7's cameras caught plenty of cab drivers on the streets Monday. However, the unions claiming to represent more than two- thousand drivers tell us they're satisfied with the work stoppage.

"I've been driving a cab for 38 years," said Bill Burns, United Taxi Drivers Community Council. "This is the most successful strike I've ever seen," said

"There will be more strikes," said Peter Enger, United Taxi Drivers Community Council. "This is a series of strikes. This is strike one. We wanted to send a lesson to Mayor Rahm Emanuel."

"We're not fighting for ourselves," said Finn Ebelechukwu, United Taxi Drivers Community Council. "For ourselves, there is nothing. We're actually fighting for the survival of our families."

City officials tell ABC7 they did not receive any reports of a cab shortage Monday morning.
