Former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson has pleaded not guilty to formal charges of domestic battery against his wife.

The six-time Pro Bowl receiver, who has been out of football since his arrest last month, could face up to a year in prison if convicted.

Johnson was most recently with the Miami Dolphins but was released last month after his wife accused him of abuse after he allegedly head-butted her during an argument in front of their home.
