Minor train derailment delays Metra service

December 24, 2012 (CHICAGO)

No passengers were on board and the crew was not injured.

The derailment happened as the train was being repositioned after coming in from Franklin Park. At least two cars left the tracks.

There are a lot of switches in the area, but investigators have not yet said if a thrown switch caused the derailment.

Crews are still working to get the train cars back on the tracks late Monday night.

There were some brief delays on the North Center, Milwaukee West and Milwaukee North lines. But Metra now reports regular, but limited, holiday service is running again.
