Chicago officers notice fire, alert residents

January 4, 2013 (CHICAGO)

Two officers ran inside to help evacuate people when they noticed flames coming from the first floor of the four-story building in the 400-block of East 66th Street.

"I was so surprised the police was there to alert us to come out of the building," said Ashley Wilson, who lives in the building.

No one was hurt.

The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, but several residents say there is no heat in the building, and they have been using space heaters to keep their units warm.
