Police: Heroin ringleader arrested during Elgin drug sweep

At least 22 people- including an alleged heroin ringleader-- were arrested during a drug sweep in Elgin.

The sweep began Thursday and continues over the next several days, according to ABC7 news partner The Daily Herald. Curtis R. Thornton, an alleged heroin ringleader, was taken into custody. His arrest is expected to put a significant dent in the increasing heroin problem in the suburb.

Elgin Police Department, FBI, Kane County Sheriff's deputies and U.S. immigrations Customs and Enforcement officers are involved.
