A big milestone Saturday was reached for a cable television show run by students.

HoopsHIGH is an after-school program led by Free Spirit Media. It lets students develop skills in sports broadcasting.

Saturday it recorded its 500th episode at Gately Stadium during the football game between Morgan Park and Orr High Schools.

The high school participants do it all. They operate cameras, announce the play-by-play, conduct sideline interviews, direct shots, and set-up and strike the equipment for each shoot.

The show aired Saturday evening on CAN-TV.

The very first episode aired in January of 2001.
