Prom dresses donated by Chicago Urban League

March 29, 2014 (CHICAGO)

The Metropolitan Board of the Chicago Urban League hosted "M Boutique" at Trinity United Church of Christ Saturday.

The boutique offered free prom dresses donated by local residents and stores.

Girls could also get shoes, jewelry, and tips from makeup and hair experts.

"It's really heartwarming and exciting," said Bridgette Outten. "Prom is such a special time so many people in the community support and see you off. They don't have to worry about actually getting a dress."

"To see this come to life and the girls walk away with dresses and they're just so happy that makes me happy," said Shelley Whitehead.

The Chicago Urban League will host another event in May to provide tuxedos for high school boys.
