Sarah Palafox discovered a love for singing in Spanish at a very young age. Her Mexican-American upbringing combined with her Black roots created a special opportunity to showcase both cultures.

LOS ANGELES -- We met a young Afro-Latina singer who's using her voice to proudly represent the Black-Latino community.

She's also creating quite a buzz on social media with her Spanish singing.

"I identify as Afro-Latina or Afro-Mexicana. I was born to a Black family, but I was put up for adoption and adopted by a Mexican family, raised in the Mexican culture. I've been with them since I was 1 month old " said Sarah Palafox. "My parents always made it a point to tell me you're Black, your mom is Black and they would tell me: They couldn't take care of you, but we love you. But culturally I didn't feel Black growing up because all I was ever around was the Mexican culture."

Sarah says she loves her Afro roots and Black features but feels 'Mexicana' at heart.

Growing up on her grandparent's ranch in Zacatecas, Mexico, instilled in her a true love for the culture and the language, especially when it comes to music.

"I started singing in church and my senior year in high school I started singing out in public with the band and every time I went up on stage-' it was always shocking, surprise. All Mexican music, I love it all. I feel it all in different ways," said Palafox.

Although it wasn't easy growing up biracial, as a child Sarah experienced bullying, but today with the help of her family, she's found her self-confidence. And soon after one of her social media posts of her singing went viral, she landed a recording deal.

"My family's very, very happy and excited for me," expressed Palafox. "I wake up grateful every day that I was adopted by a Latino family. All the morals, all the love and everything that my parents instilled in me - I'm super grateful for that and... I can't help but wonder what my life would've been, but I feel really blessed."
