WHITING, Ind. (WLS) -- Firefighters are investigating the cause of a deadly blaze at a home in northwest Indiana.
The fire broke out just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1200-block of 121st Street in Whiting.
Police arrived to find heavy smoke. They told firefighters there was a man in his 50s in the house when they arrived. Crews found the man dead inside the home.
The Lake County, Ind., coroner's office identified the victim as 57-year-old Alan Lewandowski. Officials said he suffered burns and smoke inhalation as a result of the fire.
There were no other injuries reported.
