Governor JB Pritzker defeated Republican State Senator Darren Bailey to win re-election
Tuesday night.Pritzker and Bailey worked to drum up last-minute support among their core bases ahead of Election Day. After greeting commuters Tuesday morning, both then cast their own ballots. Pritzker gathered supporters in Chicago Tuesday night, while Bailey held his event in Springfield.
U.S. House and Senate Races
Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth was also re-elected Tuesday night, defeating Illinois political newcomer and lawyer Kathy SalvI.
Incumbent Democrat Sean Casten has been re-elected to Illinois' 6th Congressional District after Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau conceded.
Rep. Lauren Underwood claimed victory against Republican candidate Scott Gryder Tuesday night for a third term in the closely-watched remapped 14th Congressional District.
More than half a dozen Democrats retained their U.S. House seats Tuesday night including Brad Schneider, Chuy Garcia, Jonathan Jackson, Mike Quigley, Jan Schakowsky and Danny Davis. Democrat Delia Ramirez was elected in the newly-drawn 3rd Congressional District, becoming the first Latina in the Midwest to go to Congress.

Illinois state offices
For the first time in 24 years, Illinois voters have elected a new Secretary of State. Democrat Alexi Giannoulias claimed victory after Dan Brady conceded the race.
Democrats retained their control of the Illinois Supreme Court , having won the 2nd and 3rd Districts, expanding their court majority to 5-2.

Attorney General Kwame Raoul defeated Republican challenger Tom DeVore 54% to 44% with 90% of precincts reporting.
In the comptroller race, incumbent Democrat Susanna Mendoza defeated Republican challenger Shannon Teresi.
Cook County races
In Cook County, incumbents Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Sheriff Tom Dart, Clerk Karen Yarbrough, Treasurer Maria Pappas and Assessor Fritz Kaegi were all re-elected.
Voting and voter turnout
Voter turnout has been strong in downtown Chicago so far. As of 5 p.m. election officials said over 37% of voters citywide have turned out to vote so far, with over 571,000 ballots already cast.
Only minor issues were reported at Chicago area polls. But downstate, election officials in Champaign County reported cyberattacks had slowed the voting process.
Ballot initiatives and other measures
Illinois voters weighed in on a state constitution to guarantee the right to bargain collectively.
The Illinois measure requires 60% of those voting on the question to vote "yes" for it to pass or 50% of all votes cast to be in favor of the question. With 88% of precincts reporting, the referendum had 59% yes to 41% no.
Indiana elections

Democrat Frank Mrvan held off a challenge from Republican Jennifer-Ruth Green in northwest Indiana.
Republican U.S. Sen. Todd Young has won his Indiana seat for a second term. Young's win in Tuesday's election came after he followed a front-runner strategy throughout his campaign that largely ignored Democratic challenger Thomas McDermott.
Wisconsin elections
Gov. Tony Evers defeated Republican Tim Michels to keep battleground Wisconsin under a Democratic governor heading into the 2024 presidential election.
Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson defeated Democrat Mandela Barnes in the midterm elections, keeping a seat in GOP hands while turning back Barnes' attempt to make history as Wisconsin's first Black senator.
