Just two weeks after Eddie Murphy married Tracey Edmonds in Bora Bora, the couple is saying the wedding ceremony was not legal. The actor and the film producer say they are happy with the symbolic ceremony and have no plans to make the marriage legal in the United States.

In statement released Thursday, they say they will remain friends. That announcement is fueling rumors that the Hollywood power couple is splitting.

Murphy and Edmonds began dating last year and became engaged in July.
