Barnes and Noble has launched a multimedia network. It offers more than 700 book-related videos featuring author interviews and book readings.

There are also two video programs. One gives readers a chance to talk about their literary passions. The other tells the stories behind recommended books.

Barnes and Noble said it hopes the videos will encourage readers to spend more time on its Web site and to make more purchases.
