Harder for women to replace muscle as they age

Getting rid of that belly fat and staying in shape can be tough to do especially for older adults. But it seems women are at a greater disadvantage compared to men. Researchers say that's because it's harder for women to replace muscle lost naturally as they age.

A small study showed women were less able to use protein to build muscle mass the way men's bodies do.

Researchers from Washington University School of Medicine say this may be due to hormone changes in women. They suggest women over 65 eat more foods like meat and eggs and do resistance exercise.
