Alderman proposes uniforms for Crane
CHICAGO The idea comes in response to the shooting death of a Crane student earlier this month.
Some gangs are known for wearing distinctive colors in their clothing.
Second Ward Alderman Bob Fioretti says a uniform could lessen the gang culture by forcing all students to wear the same color clothing to school.
A 15-year-old, alleged gang member is accused of gunning down 18-year-old Ruben Ivy shortly after classes let out March 7.
Since the shooting, police have increased patrols around the school.
