Chicago police brass will be hitting the streets on their days off this coming weekend to help bring an end to the violence involving the city's teens. Police Superintendent Jody Weis ordered his 25 newly appointed district commanders to directly patrol their communities between 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. this weekend when most of the gang-related crime occurs.

Weis also plans to begin helicopter patrols on the weekends.

The special police patrols are in response to the outbreak of violence that's claimed the lives of several Chicago school students.
