Special police patrols after CPS violence

CHICAGO Police Superintendent Jody Weis ordered his 25 newly appointed district commanders to directly patrol their communities between 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. this weekend when most of the gang-related crime occurs.

Weis also plans to begin helicopter patrols on the weekends.

The special police patrols are in response to the outbreak of violence that's claimed the lives of several Chicago school students.
