City council to vote on cab fare surcharge

Taking a cab ride in Chicago could get more expensive. City council could vote Wednesday on a fare surcharge. The one-dollar surcharge would help taxi drivers cover the cost of rising gas prices.

It would only go into effect when prices are above $3.20 cents a gallon, for seven days in a row.

The surcharge would go into effect April 28.
