Roughly one in five US troops is suffering from major depression or post-traumatic stress from serving in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

An equal number have suffered brain injuries according to a new study released by the Rand Corporation. It also brings to light that only about half of these troops have sought treatment.

Researchers say there is a major health crisis facing these men and women. They add, unless they receive appropriate and effective care for these mental health conditions, there will be long term consequences for them and for the nation.
