A Tinley Park High School student has been diagnosed with MRSA, a drug-resistant staph bacteria.

The assistant principal says he learned about the diagnosis on Monday afternoon. Parents were notified Monday night.

MRSA is a bacteria that causes skin and other infections. The student has been treated.

School officials say cleaning crews have taken extra steps to disinfect the building.
