A theme park turned into a giant laboratory for thousands of science students from the Midwest Thursday. Students from Illinois and surrounding states participated in "Physics Day" at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee Thursday.

Armed with calculators and accelerometers, they measured the vortex and velocity of the roller coasters.

Thursday is one of the only days where the park is open only to students and teachers for educational purposes.
