A maintenance worker at the Chicago Lodge Motel on West Foster and Sheridan discovered the woman Tuesday afternoon. She was found inside a closet of the guest room.
Police suspect she may have been dead for a couple of days.
Investigators are also working to identify the woman who is believed to be in her 40s.
The man had checked into the motel on May 9. He was last seen leaving the room Tuesday morning.
