Storms close part of I-57 in Will County

A stretch of Interstate 57 in Will County has been closed due to Saturday's powerful storms.The Illinois state police have shut down the interstate between the Sauk Trail Road and Monee exits. Several high-retention power lines were knocked down and crews have closed off the area as a safety precaution.

"We have transmission lines that are either sagging or actually on the ground. We expect that restoration work to be completed by 9 a.m. tomorrow [Monday]," said ComEd spokesperson Luis Diaz-Perez.

Sunday evening, 42,000 ComEd customers were still without power. Crews have restored electricity to 66,000 customers since the storms Saturday.
