Bottled water tax not so profitable in Chicago

A new report says revenues from the city's bottled water tax are falling far short of projections. The report in the Chicago Sun-Times claims the tax is netting only 46-percent of the $10.5 million projected for the first 5 months of this year.

The tax on bottled water was aimed at easing the city's overall budget crunch. The revenue shortfall could mean the city has to find other services or programs to cut in order to meet its budget.
