Strength training may be beneficial to post-menopausal women with fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is most common in women after menopause. It is characterized by pain, fatigue and difficulty sleeping. A new study by Finnish researchers looked at 23 middle-aged women with the condition and compared them to group of 11 similar women without fibromyalgia. The women with fibromyalgia had less muscle strength in their legs.

The results also showed that fibromyalgia patients were less able to stand physical loading and resist overall fatigue.
