The Tribune Company has made its first round of cuts among those in the bidding process for the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.Officially, it's not known who has been eliminated. But the Chicago Tribune reports three of the 10 groups approved by Major League Baseball have been deemed promising enough to be asked to continue.

The paper also reports at least one previous front-runner may have been cut. A source says a bid by a group led by John Canning came in far less than $1 billion.
