Officer suspended for demanding free Starbucks

CHICAGO Officer Barbara Nevers of the Belmont Police District has been ordered to get counseling in addition to her 15-month suspension.

The police board says she sometimes flashed her badge, displayed her gun and screamed at Starbucks employees.

The incidents happened between 2001 and 2004. Most took place in the Lincoln Park neighborhood.

Two police board members said they thought Nevers should have faced tougher punishment.
