Metra apologized Saturday for an incident that kept some Chicago area residents heading home from the Air and Water show stuck on a train for three hours Friday night. A Union Pacific West Line train left Ogilvie Transportation Center on time at 10:40 p.m. but was delayed due to massive switching problems and a freight train that was stuck on the tracks. Then, the crew had to be switched out after it had worked its maximum amount of hours under federal law.

A Metra spokesperson says the agency is working to avoid similar situations in the future.
