Illinois soldiers honored for service overseas

Dozens of Illinois Army National Guard soldiers were honored Saturday for their sacrifice and support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.The soldiers of the 708th medical company completed more than 1,000 ambulance missions in Kuwait. Each soldier was presented with a flag and certificate of appreciation.

The ceremony included a tribute to the soldiers' fallen comrade, Specialist Ashley Sietsema, a 20-year-old Melrose Park native was killed in Kuwait last year in an accident involving her ambulance.
