Officer faces charges in deadly crash

A Cook County grand jury indicted Officer John Adrelean on charges of reckless homicide and aggravated driving under the influence. It's in connection to the crash last Thanksgiving on the city's North Side which killed Miguel Flores and Erick Lagunas.

Shortly before the crash, Ardelean was seen on videotape at a Near North Side bar drinking what appeared to be several shots.

Ardelean was initially charged with felony DUI but a judge threw out the case because of lack of evidence.

Officer Ardelean has been relieved of his powers and is on desk duty until the results of an internal investigation.
