House committee talks cell phone safety

What's more, between 1996 and 2005, brain tumors have declined slightly among Americans. Still, cell phones are a relatively new technology, and some experts are concerned that long term use in children could be harmful.

A House government reform committee met Thursday to discuss with scientists and lawmakers the status of research on this topic.

A major wireless industry association declined to be a part of the discussion, saying the debate is best left to scientists.

The committee is not yet making any recommendations.
