Some Cook County residents concerned about the foreclosure crisis attended a Mortgage Foreclosure Summit on the South Side Saturday. The event was meant to provide homeowners with specific information about handling foreclosure processes. Specialists in lending options, property tax reduction and bankruptcy were on hand. Free legal advice was offered, as well.

The summit was organized by Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown, Attorney General Lisa Madigan and other city leaders as a response to the crisis they say threatens to erode the vitality of hard-hit communities in the Chicago area.
