Attempted child abduction reported in Wheaton

Police in west suburban Wheaton are investigating an incident involving a man who approached a young girl outside of her school. It happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday as the girl was waiting to be picked up by her parents outside of Monroe Middle School on Manchester Road.

The man asked the girl if she needed and ride and invited her to get into his car. She refused. He drove off as another adult approached.

The suspect was driving a boxy turquoise-colored sedan. It had rust on the rear bumper.
